I hope a windows version is developed for running windows under Bootcamp.

SMC Fancontrol is outstanding and is a must for any Macbook Pro owner. My fans will adjust almost instantly when changing profiles. Right click on this display and it will bring up it’s menu. Look up in your menu bar icons (date-time, battery status, wireless) upper right corner of your display. When you double left click on the SMC Fancontrol the program will run. These techniques will add some longevity to my machine and ensure that it stays well below egg-frying range. The average temperatures on these machines are sometimes close to 75☌ at 100 load. The bottom is just a little bit warmer but not anywhere close to the blistering temperatures before. At idle - 38-40☌ 50 CPU load - 45-47☌ 100 CPU load - 50-55☌ Ive never seen it spike above 57☌, which is below my initial goal of 60☌. I can lay my hand on the top surface and over the speaker grills and the heat is only slightly warm.

The following are indicated by iStat Pro with my fans running at 3500 RPM: HD 97F, CPU 115F, Airport Card 125F, Enclosure Base 88F, GPU 135, GPU Heatsink 115, Heatsink A 113F, and Heatsink B 103.Īs you can see my Macbook Pro is running considerably cooler than without SMC Fancontrol. When I am not playing games and multimedia I setup a higher rpm profile that keeps my fans turning at 3500 rpm. So the noise I indeed could hear was as designed by Apple. The speed was about 1200 RPM, which is the machine’s idle speed.

The GPU diode used to run up to around 165F and now is hovers between 125F and 130F. Dampening iMac fan noise with felt I installed smcFanControl (but you won’t need it) just to read the fan speed of my new 2016 iMac 21.5 retina screen desktop machine (type iMac16,2). This Application can be configured to show you what you want and it sits in the menu bar. In recent times, you can use a utility called smcFanControl to adjust the fan. smcFanControl Another good Application that a lot of members use to monitor everything from CPU Usage and temperatures for Airport Card, Battery, CPU, The Enclosure, Heatsink A and B, Memory Bank, Hard Drive and the Northbridge and that is iStat Menus. When I am watching movies or playing games I setup a multimedia profile that runs my fans to 6000 RPM. The same Wi-Fi setup I used when I configured my PowerPC G4-based Mini was. Additionally, my Macbook Pro is quite a bit cooler to the touch. My Macbook Pro is running a lot cooler and now I have no worries about overheating. SMC Fancontrol is a fantastic program and works as designed.
